Christ for Humanity became involved in international missions in1990, when it first began arranging short-term medical / dental mission trip to the Sierra Madre Mountains of northern Mexico. In 1993 CFH received a grant from the U.S State Department, allowing the ministry to ship humanitarian aid to countries in the Former Soviet Union. Over the years CFH shipped more than 5 million pounds of aid to mission groups serving in many Soviet block countries and became one of the top shippers of humanitarian relief under the Project Support Freedom program. More recently, the ministry has focused on needs in Africa and India, partnering with well-established ministries to meet the needs of the poor. (Click on highlighted countries on the interactive map to learn more about special CFH projects abroad.)
Worldwide Humanitarian Aid Africa Christ for Humanity has enjoyed the opportunity of serving many countries in Africa during its years of service to the poor. The ministry worked with Gerber to provide multiple containers of baby food for starving children in Ghana and arranged for life-giving high lysine corn to be shipped from Indiana to Zambia. CFH provided money to purchase food for an orphanage in Zimbabwe and funded a major portion of the construction of Redemption Christian School in Uganda with staff and board members on-site to help in the building effort. The ministry collects medical equipment and medical supplies for Christian clinics serving in the Congo and in Ghana and has drilled water-wells in The Gambia and in Sudan. Numerous missionaries and mission groups contact CFH yearly for humanitarian aid to take with them on mission trips across the African continent.
When Ronda Tyson came on staff in 2000 as CFH Director of Global Missions, her primary focus was Africa, with emphasis on ministry in West Africa. Ronda has lead numerous CFH-sponsored mission trips to this area, encouraging African American believers in particular to participate and become the hands and feet of Christ to people living in darkness.
CFH teams work with the indigenous Church, engaging in evangelism and distributing food and other forms of aid to the poor. In 2008, a CFH-sponsored mission team oversaw the drilling of the ministry’s very first water-well in the Gambian village of Latria. Subsequently, the ministry has purchased 35 additional water-pumps to repair existing, non-functioning wells throughout The Gambia one of Africa’s poorest nations.
Mexico Due to its proximity to the U.S., Mexico continues to be a major focus of Christ for Humanity mission activity. Our ministry provides food, clothing, medical supplies and medication to multi-denominational ministries working south of the border. Aid and financial support from CFH have helped establish churches, orphanages and medical clinics.
Special Recognition As one of the top eleven shippers of humanitarian aid under the federal Project Support Freedom Program, Christ for Humanity received a Certificate of Merit from the Department of State in 1995. The ministry continues to work with the U.S. government to supply aid to the disadvantaged.
